Diatomaceous Earth is a natural mineral product rather than a chemical, with no toxicity, and parasites do not build up a tolerance to it. Its razor-sharp particles pierce the outer shell of insects such as mites and lice, causing them to dehydrate and die. It is certified for use in organic farming (Regulation (EC) No 834/2007) and authorised as a feed additive (E 551c) under EC/183/2003.
